Well, maybe not. But they are probably the strongest wheels that I have built.

48 spokes, four-cross, 20″ rims, high-flange hubs. About the only thing that could make these wheels any stronger would be a double-wall or triple-box rim.

Here is a brand new Xtracycle Radish that was sent to the shop for professional assembly.

It has their “peapod” child seat which mounts directly to the rear deck, which is pretty nice. This bike will be used as the customer’s main form of transportation & will even be ridden through the winter once it is equipped with proper tyres!

How do you make a brand new bicycle that never gets ridden by its owner more appealing?
Put a mustache handlebar on it, of course!

Here is a custom frame-up build of a Waterford track frame. Which makes this a good time to let you all know that The Broken Spoke is now a Waterford dealer!

A nice & light steel frame accompanied by some carbon fiber bits & pieces aid in the overall weight of this bike at 17lbs! A Sugino track crank drives the White Industries freewheel on the rearend. A shop favourite, Continental Ultra Gatorskin tyres, makes the rubber meet the road.

Meanwhile, a Zipp carbon wheel up front is held in place by an Easton EC90 carbon fork. Shimano Dura-Ace brakes bring this bike’s speediness to a halt. Carbon Profile brake levers & a carbon bullhorn handlebar along with a Thomson stem finish off the front end.

I thought I had a photo of the rear wheel that I had built, but apparently I don’t. Look for it coming soon! It is the same wheel that was featured in this post.

A customer came to the shop wanting his mountain bike wheels rebuilt. He had some super nice older Sachs mountain hubs that were laced up to some Sun rims that had come to the end of their lifespan.

They are laced up with DT Revolution spokes to DT R450 rims ready to roll many more miles!

A new single speed conversion, that is! This was brought to us by a customer that wanted to have a cool bike to ride around town on.

Here we have an awesome green bike that has seen better days. It could certainly use a new chain & a pair of new tubes in the tyres.

Or, it could get tricked out as a pretty sweet single speed! Check out those upside down handlebars. It’s still awesome green, but now ready for the street!

It was to become a single speed, so a new wheel needed to be built up. I hand-built this wheel using a Paul Word single speed hub, DT Revolution spokes, & a DT XR 4.2 rim.

Here is the original build as a geared bike.

And here it is in its current single speed form! The shifters & derailleurs have been removed. The triple chainring crank now only bears one chainring & a chainring guard. The sliding dropouts at the rear allow this frame to easily accommodate a singlespeed wheel without neccesitating any kind of chain tensioner.

Ultegra hubs laced up with DT Revolution double-butted stainless steel spokes to Alex Adventurer rims.

Here we have what once was a mountain bike. Gears & flat bar be gone!

Tektro makes some awesome road brake levers that are long-pull to play nicely with linear pull brakes.

A handbuilt(by me) rear wheel comprised of a White Industries eccentric hub/DT spokes/Velocity Aero Heat rim puts the power from the pedals to the pavement.
